Fall
Here are a few pictures to illustrate how much my family appreciates my hard work. I labor tirelessly to rake the leaves…

Butterfly seems to be catching some good air in that second picture. Maybe you should start training her to be a basketball player so she can support you in your old age.

Yea, leaves! Why do people work so hard to make their yards look entirely unnatural during the fall? Leaves fall. That’s why it’s called, you know, fall. Here they just let the seasons do their thing. It’s less work in the fall (winter sucks no matter what), and the streets look lovely covered in red, yellow, orange, and brown.

In our case, if we don’t rake the leaves, they will kill the grass/weeds that cover the dirt. We’ve got enough dirt in our house…we don’t need to introduce another method for getting it in.
But your point is well-taken. I usually let the leaves sit out while they are pretty and colorful. Once they are all brown, I’ll take my time over 3-4 months and rake them up. In the case of the pictures posted here, the pile was created at the request of Butterfly. It was destroyed to her enjoyment.
