Reality Check
An anonymous source in my office has requested that I join him in a sprint triathlon. For those who aren’t aware, here are the requirements for said event:
Swim - 750 m (0.47 mi)
Bike - 20 km (12.4 mi)
Run - 5 km (3.1 mi)
So, other than the fact that I don’t have a bicycle, tight shorts, goggles, a cool swimmy hat, special shoes or adequate training…is this a good idea?

I wouldn’t do it unless you had plenty of time to train. But you are probably stronger than I am. I’m not too tired after a 12 mile bike ride, but when I get close to 20 miles I get tired. It’s hard for me to imagine doing that AND swimming AND running. All of these things use different muscles, too, so I guess I’d want some time to try each activity and make sure I’m ready.
But you do what you want. Just make sure someone is nearby to call 911.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Train for it and do it!
