I actually have some new shoes from Run Fit. Unfortunately, they haven't done the trick. they have helped my knees over the past 2-3 years, but this thing is beyond shoe help. It requires drugs that you can't find in downtown Macon.

Did you check your running shoes? Bad shoes make a big difference...Rebekah's feet hurt pretty badly while running until she went to Run Fit Sports, and they measured her foot and put her in exactly the right shoes. Now the pain is significantly less. They're more expensive shoes, but cheaper than a doc.

Good luck!

Ha! How funny that I assumed the problem was in your knees! That just goes to show where my brain goes when people talking about pain in the legs and age. I mean, obviously it must be the knees, right?

Sheesh. At least I didn't assume it was a hip injury.

Alana,
I think that "big-ass" is acceptable if it is the name of the mountain. Of course, it doesn't have to be the official, proper name. It could be a nickname given by the locals or something like that. Also, the adjective may be appropriate if the mountain is actually large and assular in shape.

Also, while my knees do ache from old age, the intense pain is actually in my lower legs. I broke down and scheduled an appointment with an orthopedist so that maybe he can charge me a lot of money to tell me that I'm a sissy.

Lance,
Do you think Chuck can score us some juice?

I had a knee injury that I got hiking up and down a big-ass mountain in Quebec. (Am I allowed to say big-ass on the air?) I used a stair climber for 15-20 minutes a day for several weeks prior to my next hiking trip out in Utah, and it helped A LOT. The idea is that you strengthen the muscles around your knees so that they provide more support when you go to try to break them again, running or hiking or whatever. Anyway, stair climbing. That's my suggestion.
