Alana has the key. You start where you are. A passage in a commentary I'm presently editing reads, "Most of us will live out our faith precisely where Jesus says we will--in our relationships, in the ordinary nitty-gritty details of life. If peace touches our lives, and our world, it will be because we are faithful to Jesus in practical, ordinary ways--turning cheeks, giving shirts, offering money to beggars, and not seeking vengeance when we are mistreated." (Judson Edwards, copyright Smyth & Helwys 2010) We start where we are, and if that's as far as we get, then we've made a world of difference to at least one person. I know you've done that for me!

Oh, it's so true. All of this stuff AND a friend of ours was diagnosed with a chronic illness recently. Another friend was in a car accident. And of course we are waiting and waiting for a ruling from the court and not getting one anytime soon. It seems like most people we know are knee-deep in worry right now.

This is exactly why I think it is the most obnoxious thing in the world when strangers say stuff to random people like, "Smile!" I've had that happen to me so many times, and all it does is make me want to punch the dude in the face and tell him he's lucky he didn't get worse. We're all doing the best we can, dammit!

Thanks for your post. It does make sense, and I appreciate it.

Making me cry! (: But I will point out that she came in the next morning early, and when I put her back in bed she said, "I want Daddy!" Now she expects the snuggles. Small price to pay, I guess.

You are a very sweet daddy. And an extra sweet husband for letting your wife sleep in. I hope to be so lucky.

I'm really, really surprised your list doesn't include inventing something that makes you rich and giving a million dollars to your sweet, loving, longtime pal Alana. This is list is just...well, self-centered if you want to know the truth.

You know, I remember a great speech once done by one of my best friends. It started with, "Since the dawn of time, man has had to s**t". Sometimes you can get the point across without all the extra filler material. Always KISS.
