Yutes of the Z
The following links are fellow bloggers from Mt. Zion or people that knew me before I became famous in the blogging world. (Because I am famous…right?)
- Lance - the godfather of the Z blogs
- Southern Belle - the godfather’s wife…making her the godmother?
- The Queen - a stunning lady, a wonderful mother…I wonder if she’ll go out with me
- Coach - Fadi was my best friend in college, so you know he’s a nerd, too. And he’s about average at NFL Blitz…I could probably beat him if I wanted to.
- DruU - I’ve never met Drew in person, but I consider him a friend. He sets up websites all over the world and I do my best to inundate them with comments.
- Alana & Xander - I went to high school with Alana, so she knew me before I became so cool and so athletic. She and her husband live in Montreal and are in the process of adopting two cupcakes.
- Amanda Whitby - the first student to blog…now she’s in college and we miss her oh so dearly
- Chrystle Edge - now that Chrystle has a car, we don’t hear much from her. Feel free to see if we can keep the comment section of her blog rolling, though
- Caity Kurish - wit, charm, sophistication…these all describe someone else. But Caity is a good babysitter.
- Trey English - Trey can sight sing at an all state level. word.
- The Original Z Chick - there’s only one original…thank goodness. This Z chick is an awesome volunteer in our youth department
The Daily Rounds
The following are links that I check on a daily basis:
- Woot - One Day, One Deal. You might get lucky enough to buy a bag of crap. If you need more info on them, check out their FAQ section.
- Shirt.Woot - One Day, One Shirt. Some are cool, most are not
- Yugster - This site is similar to Woot, but they have some alternate deals as well as rewards for active members.
- Lifehacker - Shortcuts and hacks about all kinds of things.
- ProFootball Talk - This site has all the latest rumors on the NFL as well as some commentary on recent happenings.
- Johnny Pierce - Dr. Pierce covers Baptist life in addition to a few other topics. His writing style works as well in blog format as it does in print in Baptist Today.
- Tony Cartledge - Tony is Johnny’s partner in crime.
Music
There’s not really one type of music that I prefer over another. I just like music that is well done. Well-played instruments, blended harmony, you get the picture. So that rules out hard rock, ska, grunge rock, and rap. I guess opera singers are good at what they do, but I don’t like that, either. I like anything from classic rock like the Allman Brothers to the soulful music of Ray Charles. The one-man sound of people like James Taylor to the full orchestra that accompanies Harry Connick Jr. But, a link to everyone that I could think of would take a really long time. Here are some of my favorites that you should check out. Most of these websites have some type of audio where you can hear their style.
- Justin McRoberts - this guy is an independent artist that I’ve been a fan of for at least 4 or 5 years. He’s excellent with a guitar and has awesome vocals. He reminds me of me except for the guitar skills and the vocals. My favorite CD thus far is his live CD. (Review) (Purchase)
- Jeremy Camp - Jeremy has great vocals and more of a “rock” feel. He’s definitely in my workout mix. The fast songs are, anyhow. It’s really tough to workout to slow songs
- Ed Cash - wow…that’s the only way I know to describe Ed Cash. But, unfortunately, he’s not performing much anymore. He’s involved much more in the production side of things. (I’ve seen his name on several Chris Tomlin CD’s.) If nothing else, check out his Christmas CD titled Joy (linked here) that he did with Bebo Norman and Allen Levi.
- Third Day - yeah, you’ve heard of them, so no need for more from me
- Steven Curtis Chapman - same description as 3D
- Michael Bublé - Michael has very smooth vocals. When I sing along with him in the car, I think we sound very similar.
- Harry Connick Junior - Harry combines the best of most worlds. Wonderful instrumentals, great vocals, a big band sound with jazz vocals…and he’s a cutie to boot. Or so my wife tells me…
